How to Show Up in Search and AI (Not Just One of Them)
For years, “being findable” meant one thing: ranking on Google. That is no longer the whole game. People now research you through two front doors, traditional search results and AI answer engines, and a profile that is built for only one of them is only half found.
Both doors reward the same thing: a clear, structured, credible source that a machine can read without guessing. The difference is what happens after. Search shows a list and lets the reader choose. An answer engine reads the sources and writes the summary itself. If your information is thin or scattered, search buries you and AI paraphrases whatever it can find, accurate or not.
The shift is already measurable
This is not a prediction about some distant future. Gartner projected that traditional search volume would fall 25% by 2026 as people move queries to AI chatbots and virtual agents (Gartner). The adoption behind that shift is enormous: ChatGPT reached 800 million weekly users in 2025 (TechCrunch), and in the U.S., 34% of adults now say they have used it, roughly double the share in 2023 (Pew Research Center).
What actually gets you surfaced
Search engines and answer engines converge on a few signals. A page that earns them tends to get found in both places:
- A clear entity. One page that unambiguously represents one person, so a machine knows exactly who you are.
- Structured data. Machine-readable markup (schema) that spells out your name, role, organization, and areas of expertise instead of hoping the model infers them.
- Corroboration. Links to real press and reputable sources that confirm the claims on the page.
- Consistency. The same facts, told the same way, across the places you appear.
This is exactly how a cloutrep profile is built. Every profile ships with structured JSON-LD data describing the person and their expertise, a clean single-entity page, and links to third-party coverage. That is also why an executive profile complements the assets you already have rather than replacing them, a point we make in what an executive profile is.
This applies to every field, not just tech
It is tempting to think discoverability is a concern for founders and technologists. Our own directory says otherwise. The 482 professionals on cloutrep span twelve distinct fields, from healthcare and real estate to law, finance, and the nonprofit world.
A physician, a real estate broker, and an attorney are all “looked up” by patients, clients, and opposing counsel the same way a startup founder is looked up by investors. The medium is universal, so the need is too.
Be the source, not the guess
cloutrep builds a structured, search-ready and AI-ready profile so both front doors return an accurate version of you.
