About Timothy Monzello
Timothy Monzello is an Adjunct Professor at El Camino College with a background in manufacturing engineering, production scheduling, and machine tool technology. His career spans hands-on machining roles, management positions, nearly two decades at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, business ownership, and over a decade of teaching.
He began his career as an auto mechanic while pursuing his education. He worked in machine shops in various capacities, including as an OD/ID Grinder and Honer, manual mill and lathe machinist, and CNC Mill, Lathe, Punch Press, and Waterjet programmer and machinist. He advanced through management roles including Foreman, Shift Supervisor, Plant Manager, and Quality Control Manager. He operated his own manufacturing business for nearly three years before selling it.
Monzello spent 19 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He worked for the first 10 years as Master Production Scheduler, where he was responsible for coordinating production timelines and resources. He later transitioned to the Manufacturing Engineering Group as a Group Lead. His tenure at NASA/JPL ended following a Reduction in Force. During his time at NASA, he received multiple NASA honor awards, NASA Team awards, and a NASA Leadership award.
He has taught as an Adjunct Professor at El Camino College for 11 years. He began teaching part-time in the evenings while working at NASA/JPL and now teaches asynchronous online courses. His teaching focuses on machine tool technology and business operations management.
Monzello holds an Associate in Science degree in Electronics and an Associate in Arts degree in Language Arts from Citrus College, completed in 1996. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Ashford University in 2009 and a Masters of Business Administration from Arizona State University in 2012. He also completed training in Project Management at Pepperdine University.
He holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and has completed certifications in Advanced GD&T, Export Compliance, Supply Chain Management, Master Planning of Resources, Oracle systems, OSHA/Forklift Operator Training, APICS/CPIM (Inventory Management), and CAPM (Project Management).
Monzello volunteers at an assisted living facility. He is based in Saratoga Springs, Utah.

Timothy Bradbury Monzello’s career started with tools, machines, and long hours on the shop floor, building a path that led to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His story is about steady growth, technical skill, and leadership earned through experience.
Timothy Bradbury Monzello’s path is built in steps and layers, from machine shops to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His work has centered on one thing: turning ideas into something real and functional.
Timothy Bradbury Monzello advocates for a stronger emphasis on Design for Manufacturability in engineering education and industry practices. Drawing from his experience at NASA JPL and manufacturing leadership roles, he emphasizes bridging the gap between design and production.
Timothy Bradbury Monzello has launched the ‘Build It Right’ Pledge, an initiative promoting smarter engineering practices. The pledge focuses on integrating manufacturability principles into the design phase to reduce production errors and costs.
Timothy Bradbury Monzello built his career step by step, starting with hands-on work and growing into leadership and teaching. He spent 19 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, working as a Master Production Scheduler and later as a Group Lead in Manufacturing Engineering.
Timothy Bradbury Monzello built a career on closing the gap between great ideas and actual production. His work spans machine shops, leadership roles, and nearly two decades at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with a focus on making ideas work in the real world.
Timothy Bradbury Monzello built a career doing both design and build, with a path running from machine shops to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He spent 19 years at NASA JPL, starting as a Master Production Scheduler and later becoming a Group Lead in Manufacturing Engineering, focusing on ideas that work in the real world.
Timothy Bradbury Monzello understands the gap between design and build better than most, having spent years as a machinist, programmer, and production leader before moving into roles at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He also teaches manufacturing and machine tool technology, making him a strong voice on design for manufacturability.
