Terence Cushing

About Terence Cushing

Terence Cushing, also known as Terry Cushing, is an attorney based in Phoenix, Arizona. He serves as Senior Corporate Counsel at Republic Services, a Fortune 300 company focused on environmental services, recycling, and waste management.

Cushing was born in Schenectady, New York, and raised in Exton, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Downingtown High School in 1992. He earned a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from George Washington University in 1996. In 2003, he earned a Juris Doctor from Pennsylvania State University and passed the Arizona bar exam the same year. He later became licensed to practice law in Nevada and Texas.

He began his legal career as a law clerk to Federal Judge Earl H. Carroll of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. After his clerkship, he joined Bowman and Brooke LLP, where he handled product liability matters for automobile manufacturers and medical malpractice cases.

Cushing later joined Jennings Strouss. His work there included product liability, commercial litigation, loan default servicing, personal injury, and medical malpractice. He became a partner at the firm in 2011.

After about four years at Jennings Strouss, he joined Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer as a partner and remained there for more than 11 years. During that period, he developed a substantial client base focused on civil litigation matters and managed a team of associates and paralegals.

After nearly 20 years in large law firms, Cushing transitioned to corporate work and joined Republic Services as Senior Corporate Counsel. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2012 and 2013 and has served as a volunteer attorney.
