Wright grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, in a family that encouraged both creativity and environmental care. Her father worked for the NYC Parks Department and introduced her to plants, while her mother was an art teacher. She attended P.S. 289 and Clara Barton High School, where she participated in environmental activities and gardening projects.
She studied liberal arts at Kingsborough Community College, completing an associate degree in 2009 with a focus on environmental studies.
