Sharen Groppell is the Executive Vice President of Business Insurance & Surety at Marsh McLennan Agency in Houston, Texas. She has over 30 years of experience in insurance and risk management, specializing in commercial insurance and construction surety.

Groppell began her career in 1987 as an Account Executive at Lockton Companies, where she gained experience in underwriting and client risk assessment. In 1997, she joined Elsey & Associates as Director and Chief Operations Officer. She managed operations, developed client relationships, and helped expand the company’s services. She remained with the firm until 2013.

In 2013, Groppell became Executive Vice President at Marsh McLennan Agency. She leads teams that develop business insurance and surety solutions for construction and commercial clients. Her role includes managing client accounts, overseeing strategic partnerships, and ensuring risk management strategies align with industry standards. She was named Marsh McLennan Agency’s Property & Casualty Producer of the Year in 2014.

Groppell holds the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) certification and stays engaged in industry developments. She attends construction law events and reviews Supreme Court cases related to insurance and surety.

She is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association and has endorsements for underwriting and commercial insurance expertise.

Groppell lives in The Woodlands, Texas. She has two sons and enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking and Tae Kwon-do.
