Robert Walat is a patent attorney based in Cohasset, Massachusetts. He has worked in the field of intellectual property law for over two decades. His focus is on helping individuals, startups, and companies protect their inventions through patents. He advises clients on patent filing, portfolio development, and competitive strategy.

Walat holds a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He earned a Master’s degree in the same field from Stanford University. He later completed his Juris Doctor (JD) at Suffolk University Law School in Boston.

Before becoming a lawyer, Walat worked as a materials scientist and semiconductor process engineer. His background in science helps him understand complex technologies, especially in fields such as electronics, semiconductors, nanotechnology, medical devices, and polymer materials.

In 2024, he became President and Managing Partner of his firm, where he also leads the Chemical & Materials Technologies practice. He has served in multiple leadership roles and committees within the organization.
