Rob Murphy is an influential figure in basketball coaching and sports management, previously serving as the Assistant General Manager for the Detroit Pistons. With a significant background in coaching, he has held various positions, including President and General Manager of the Motor City Cruise and Head Coach at Eastern Michigan University (EMU). During his tenure at EMU, Murphy was recognized for his leadership and success, notably receiving the 2012 MAC Coach of the Year award and achieving a high graduation rate among his players.

Before his roles in the NBA G League and at EMU, Murphy gained experience as an assistant coach at Syracuse University under Jim Boeheim, contributing to some of the program’s most successful seasons. His coaching career also includes time at Kent State University and in the Detroit Public Schools system, where he began shaping young athletes’ careers.
