About Richard Donoff

Richard Donoff has spent over 26 years in financial services, working with retirees and pre-retirees on retirement income planning, long-term care, and Social Security optimization. He serves as Managing Partner at Sunshine Financial Partners and President of Richard Donoff & Associates, a firm he founded in 1999. Based in Parkland, Florida, he operates under the brand name The Safe Money Doctor.

Donoff started his career in sales and marketing, holding roles at Sealy Mattress Company, Category 5 Hurricane Shutters, and within a Coca-Cola dealer network before entering financial services. At Sealy, he worked as Field Sales Manager and Key Account Manager across Florida, Georgia, and Texas from 1981 to 1986. In that role, he states that he increased regional sales from $6.5 million to more than $32 million over three years. He was named Salesman of the Year by the company for two consecutive years.

In 1999, Donoff established Richard Donoff & Associates. The firm focused on retirement planning, annuities, insurance products, and what he describes as safe money strategies designed to reduce risk for retirees. According to Donoff, the organization grew to 284 agents and generated $30 million in annual sales. From 2009 to 2020, he also served as Managing Director of Living Benefits Company LLC, and from 2012 to 2020, he held a role as Executive Advisor and Manager at a financial firm in Boca Raton.

Donoff describes his approach to client service as educational and centered on protection. He uses what he calls a Prescription for Sound Financial Health framework, which addresses retirement income, tax efficiency, wealth transfer, and long-term care. He states that he has developed a process for securing long-term care coverage for clients regardless of health history. His work has been featured in CEOWORLD magazine, Brainz Magazine, BM Magazine, and Access Newswire.

He was recognized as Salesman of the Year by American National Insurance in his first year in the business. He states that he increased Pennsylvania Life Disability sales by 350% over two years in Florida and Georgia, and that he became the largest independent distributor of Mutual of Omaha’s Critical Illness Program in the country. The Wall Street Journal featured his work in connection with a Coca-Cola dealer network on its front page.

Donoff earned a BBA in Marketing and Human Resource Management from Temple University in 1978 and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Washington University in St. Louis, Olin Business School, in 1980. He grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and graduated from George Washington High School in 1974. He later relocated to Florida, where he has maintained his practice for more than two decades.
