Matthew V. Blackwell is a business owner based in Woodbridge, Connecticut. He is the owner of Woodbridge Farms, an ecommerce business, and SeaSide Properties, which manages his family’s real estate portfolio.

Blackwell grew up in Fairfield and Monroe, Connecticut, as the oldest of four children. He graduated from high school with honors in 1999. In 2003, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Union College, graduating cum laude.

He began his career at ACNielsen BASES, where he worked for two years. In 2005, he joined Aurora Products, a consumer products company built by his family. He worked there from 2005 to 2016 and advanced from Assistant to the General Manager to Vice President of Operations. His work focused on operations and day-to-day execution.

In 2016, Blackwell founded CyclElectric, an electric bike company that sold conversion kits and pre-built bikes. The company later closed due to inconsistent sales and competition from China. In 2018, he joined Industrial Flow Solutions (IFS) in operations leadership and left in 2022.

In 2023, Blackwell launched Woodbridge Farms and SeaSide Properties. Through SeaSide Properties, he has discussed changes in short-term rental rules, including local registration and licensing, occupancy and parking requirements, and 24/7 contact expectations. He has described a management approach that emphasizes compliance with local ordinances, lower-density occupancy standards, and the inclusion of long-term rentals.

Blackwell volunteers with the American Red Cross as a Duty Officer and has donated time to Habitat for Humanity and the United Way.
