About John Charrier

Jonathan Étienne Charrier is a Canadian entrepreneur based in Montreal, Quebec. He is the founder of Charrier Global Imports, an import and export company that supplies specialty foods, artisanal goods, and wellness products to boutique retailers across North America.

Charrier grew up in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighborhood of Montreal. He was raised in a bilingual household and was exposed early to the hospitality industry through his parents’ careers in restaurant and hotel management. He later studied International Business at HEC Montréal, where he completed a Bachelor of Business Administration. His academic focus included international trade and market access for small producers.

From 2007 to 2009, Charrier traveled and worked in several countries, including France, Italy, Peru, Brazil, and Morocco. During this period, he gained experience with vineyards, agricultural cooperatives, textile collectives, and small-scale food producers. These experiences shaped his interest in cross-border trade and supplier relationships.

In 2012, he founded Charrier Global Imports in Montreal. The company began in a small warehouse and initially focused on a limited selection of curated products sourced from international producers. Over time, the business expanded its catalog and operations, eventually serving more than 300 boutique retailers across North America.

Charrier’s work emphasizes supplier stability, consistent quality standards, and structured inventory management. He remains involved in sourcing and supplier oversight while supporting local and international community initiatives connected to food access and small business development.
