About Jane Coogan

Jane I. Coogan is a partner at Coogan Smith, LLP in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She focuses her practice on trusts and estate planning, probate and trust administration, and business formation and succession planning. She works with individuals, families, and closely held businesses in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Coogan began her legal career at Feingold and Edelblum, LLC, a boutique firm in Hackensack, New Jersey. From 2008 to 2013 she worked as an associate there. Her work included estate planning for high net worth families, preparation of estate and inheritance tax returns, probate and estate administration, and planning for family owned businesses.

In 2014 she returned to Attleboro and joined Coogan Smith, LLP. At the firm she advises clients on wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and related planning tools. She also represents personal representatives and trustees in probate courts and in the administration of trusts. Her practice includes planning for succession of ownership in small and family businesses.

Coogan holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of the Holy Cross, earned in 2001. She received her Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law in 2007. She then completed a Master of Laws in Taxation at Villanova, also in 2007. Her tax training informs her work on estate and business plans that must account for federal and state tax rules.

Coogan lives in Attleboro and practices with Coogan Smith, LLP at its Bank Street office, serving clients throughout southern New England.
