He later expanded his research into vaccine science and lung biology. His studies investigated laser based vaccine adjuvants and their ability to enhance immune responses to influenza antigens. In addition, Shah has studied neonatal lung disease, focusing on mitochondrial dysfunction and mitophagy in impaired lung development and bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
