About Dilip Shah

Dilip Shah is a scientist and biochemist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His work focuses on immunology, lung biology, and translational biomedical research. He has training in chemistry and biochemistry, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a Master of Science in Biochemistry, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. His academic studies were supported by multiple fellowship awards from the governments of Nepal and India.

Shah’s early research examined how oxidative stress and antioxidant systems affect immune cell function. His doctoral work explored immune regulation in autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. He studied how imbalanced oxidative stress influences cytokine production, chemokine signaling, and programmed cell death in T and B lymphocytes. His findings identified intracellular glutathione as an important regulator of immune responses and inflammation. This work was published in peer reviewed journals including Immunobiology, Cellular Immunology, and Immunology Letters.

He later expanded his research into vaccine science and lung biology. His studies investigated laser based vaccine adjuvants and their ability to enhance immune responses to influenza antigens. This work also contributed to understanding immune activity in the lung and responses to respiratory viruses. His research in this area appeared in journals such as Nature Communications and the Journal of Controlled Release.

In addition, Shah has studied neonatal lung disease, focusing on mitochondrial dysfunction and mitophagy in impaired lung development and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. His current work centers on immunotherapeutic and targeted drug development strategies, including CAR T cell and antibody drug conjugate research.
