About Dean Hachem

Dean Hachem is an American entrepreneur and engineer with a background in the restaurant and airport food service industries. He was born in Lebanon and raised in Kuwait before moving to the United States to study engineering at the University of Michigan. Although he earned an engineering degree, Hachem chose to pursue a career in hospitality.

In the 1990s, he opened The Sheik Restaurant in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The restaurant became known for its Mediterranean cuisine and local appeal. He managed the business for over a decade, overseeing daily operations, food preparation, staffing, and customer service.

In 2001, Hachem transitioned into the airport food and beverage industry. He spent more than 20 years managing restaurant operations in airports across the United States. His responsibilities included working with vendors, managing unionized labor, maintaining compliance with airport regulations, and optimizing logistics in high-traffic environments.

Hachem credits his engineering background with helping him solve problems and manage systems efficiently. His approach to business emphasized planning, organization, and building strong relationships with partners and staff.

After retiring from full-time operations in 2023, he began mentoring young entrepreneurs and writing about his professional experiences. He also continues to enjoy cooking and remains interested in food service trends.

Hachem lives in the Detroit area with his family. His career reflects adaptability and a willingness to pursue new opportunities across industries. He is best known for his practical leadership style and his ability to manage complex operations in both local and high-pressure settings.
