Bard College is recognized as a top producer of Fulbright U.S. students for 2018-2019, with six students receiving awards. David Shein, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Studies, praised the Fulbright scholars for epitomizing the intellectual engagement, global awareness, and curiosity that is the hallmark of a Bard education.
Bard College, through its Clemente Course in the Humanities, offers a free college-level introduction to the humanities to adults living on low incomes. David Shein, Bard’s dean of studies and a philosophy teacher, explains the program is intended for people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to college-level humanities courses.
In response to the closure of Poughkeepsie Day School, Bard College offered the private school’s rising seniors the opportunity to complete their senior scholastic year through the college. The program, modeled after Bard’s early college strategy, allows students to earn a high school diploma and college credits at the same price as their current tuition.
