David Ferrera

About David Ferrera

David Ferrera is an American engineer, inventor, and medical device executive based in Lake Forest, California. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the medical device industry, with a focus on interventional radiology and neurovascular care.

Ferrera is the CEO of RC Medical, a medical device venture studio. RC Medical funds, designs, develops, and commercializes products for the interventional radiology market. The company partners with physician-entrepreneurs to identify clinical problems and build product-based solutions. RC Medical has helped form several new companies, including Single Pass, Infinity Neuro, and Sonorous Neuro.

Ferrera also serves as CEO and Chairman of Sonorous Neuro, a company focused on technologies for neurovascular treatment. He is a co-founder, board member, or advisor to multiple medical device ventures, including Innervate Medical, Vasometrics Medical, Mehana Medical, and Spinal Singularity.

Earlier in his career, Ferrera held senior roles at several medical device companies. He co-founded Blockade Medical in 2011 and served as President and Chief Technology Officer until its acquisition by Balt Extrusion in 2016. He was Vice President of Product Development, Clinical Research, and General Manager at MindFrame Inc., where he led development of an acute stroke mechanical thrombectomy product line. MindFrame was later acquired by Covidien, now part of Medtronic Neurovascular.

Ferrera previously worked at Microvention, Micrus Endovascular, Boston Scientific, and IMPRA Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Plastics Engineering from the University of Lowell, now UMass Lowell, and is listed as an inventor on more than 80 United States and international medical device patents.
