Tuffy began his career as a clinician and operations manager at Orlando Health. There he scheduled and supervised outpatient rehabilitation staff, managed clinics in several specialties, and worked on program development for sports injury and orthopedic rehabilitation. He gained experience in billing, coding, productivity tracking, and financial analysis during this period.
He later joined RehabCare as director of acute rehab care. In that role he oversaw clinical and financial operations for an inpatient rehabilitation unit. He worked closely with physicians, nursing, and administrative leaders and chaired safety, performance improvement, and leadership committees.
Tuffy moved to CaroMont Health in North Carolina, where he held several roles over nine years. He served as director and executive director of operations for specialty physician practices, then as cardiovascular service line director, and later as vice president of operations for the medical group. His responsibilities included strategic planning, physician recruitment, compensation models, accountable care organization initiatives, bundled payment pilots, and implementation of the Epic electronic medical record in hospital and ambulatory settings.
From 2017 to 2025, Tuffy was president and chief administrative officer of Northeast Georgia Physicians Group. He was responsible for operations across more than 38 clinical specialties, including around 700 providers and 1,400 staff. His work focused on quality, access, financial performance, ambulatory growth, graduate medical education, and alignment with overall health system strategy.
