About Christopher Mertz

Christopher Mertz is a Florida-based program manager and education leader with nearly two decades of experience in public education and organizational operations. He currently serves as a Program Manager and Google Account Specialist at University Instructors, where he oversees Google account access for more than 900 employees and supports instructional programs across multiple districts and states.

Before moving into program management, Mertz spent 19 years working in K–12 education across three Florida school districts. His career includes roles as a classroom teacher, administrative dean, assistant principal, and principal. He taught middle school mathematics for six years and later held leadership roles focused on curriculum, discipline systems, special education services, and school accountability.

Mertz served as Principal of Discovery Elementary School in Deltona, Florida, from 2024 to 2025. During his tenure, the school saw gains across all Florida Department of Education accountability categories, including improvements in English language arts, mathematics, science, and learning gains for students in the lowest quartile. He managed a multi-million-dollar school budget, supervised faculty and staff, and led initiatives to improve family communication and school culture.

Earlier administrative roles included Assistant Principal positions at Milwee Middle School and South Seminole Academy, where he supported magnet programs, special education services, testing coordination, and instructional improvement. His work in discipline-focused roles contributed to measurable reductions in student suspensions through targeted intervention programs.

In addition to his professional roles, Mertz is the founder of FatherFigure Advocates, LLC, a Florida-based organization that provides parent advocacy, student mentoring, and educational consulting services focused on supporting families and young men navigating the school system.
