About Ben Roper

Benjamin “Ben” Roper is an American real estate professional based in Richmond, Virginia. He serves as the REIT Specialist at Capital Square and Chief Investment Officer at Real Estate Services Co.

Roper began his career in property management at RangeWater Real Estate, then known as Matrix Residential, where he leased apartments at the American Tobacco Center in Richmond. He later advanced to a special projects role and was promoted to the company’s innovation department in Atlanta. In this position, he focused on implementing new technologies and strategies to improve operations across the portfolio.

In 2022, Roper joined Bonaventure as a business development professional. He worked on building relationships with developers, property owners, and family offices. His responsibilities included promoting Bonaventure’s investment products, such as UPREIT transactions, Preferred Equity, and Mezzanine debt.

After two years with Bonaventure, Roper moved to Capital Square in 2024. At Capital Square, he is responsible for sourcing and structuring REIT transactions, with a focus on Section 721 UPREIT exchanges. These transactions allow property owners to contribute assets to a REIT in exchange for operating partnership units.

In September 2025, Roper was appointed Chief Investment Officer at Real Estate Services Co., a development company founded by his father, Phil Roper. In this role, he oversees investment strategy and future development projects.

Roper holds a bachelor’s degree in politics from The University of the South, with concentrations in national institutions and policies, conflict and peace, and political action. He is also an Eagle Scout.
